The things you should know:

Reporting to the Acquisition Manager, the Social Marketer is responsible for the acquisition of new leads from all current and future social media platforms.

The objective of the role is to ensure that Alternative Media (AM) obtains as many relevant and profitable leads from social media(s), by briefing in designs, creating headlines, setting live new campaigns and managing a number of always-on campaigns.

The Social Marketing Manager will leverage the skills, knowledge and assets of AM to build and execute a performance-centric marketing strategy across platforms including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat etc.

You will have power to test new technology, influence campaign landing pages, test new platforms (e.g. LinkedIn) and work across the complete design process (briefing copy, designs, videos…)

Some of the things you’ll be working on:

Campaign Management

  • Achieve and maintain lead volume and profitability targets for each Business Unit.
  • Develop new creative headline and imagery combinations across campaigns.
  • Create campaigns utilising new advertorials created within the team.


  • To lead the development and execution of multi touchpoint, personalised customer acquisition plans that drive profitable returns.
  • Implement time of year campaigns, for example Health Insurance Rate Rise and End Of Financial Year.
  • Ensure compliance of the social media assets team with all legal, regulatory and internal policies and requirements.
  • Engage and educate Business Unit internal stakeholders on campaign value

Test & Learning

  • Review and take learning from competitor social strategies.
  • Trial new campaign strategies, audiences, and creative types.

Trial new medias, technologies or tools as related to the role.

  • Data driven, to make sure we are targeting the correct audiences and getting return on investment (that helps pay our wages).
  • Communications and organisational skills to facilitate the management of all campaigns in a high pace environment

Qualifications & Experience


  • 2+ years social media advertising experience, with a focus on measurable performance. Page likes don’t count (sorry not sorry).
  • Understanding of the marketing planning process and a capability in developing and implementing those plans
  • Drive to test, with both successful ideas and learning opportunities.
  • Proven understanding of the use and building of data-driven customer segmentation
  • Proven track record in engaging all levels of internal and external stakeholders

Desired (but not must haves):

  • Quality tertiary qualification in marketing, business or related discipline
  • Experience with social media ad tech (we have tested a number in the last 6 months).
  • Understanding of customer journeys from prospecting to retargeting and retention
  • Understanding of relationship between Salesforce and Facebook
  • Knowledge of Salesforce, ability to run reports and gain insights
  • Detailed understanding of 1-1 communications via social campaigns
  • Agency background or ability to manage multiple business units.
